The Virginia Library Association is hosting a series of job search workshops to assist recent graduates or those interested in transitioning to a new library position.
Each workshop will offer tips from hiring managers, directors, and others who have served on hiring committees. Plus, attendees will receive insight from those who have recently gone through the hiring process.
The morning Q&A will cover general topics like: preparing resumes and cover letters, and interview strategies. After lunch and a networking session, we will have breakout sessions that will focus on more individual topics like applying for a special collections position, or switching from one type of library to another. Breakout topics will vary from location to location.
Reviewers will also be on hand to provide individual feedback on resumes and cover letters. If you are interested in having a resume or cover letter reviewed please bring at least two printed copies of the document and a job description of a position in which you are interested.
Here’s a tentative schedule for the day, and official schedule will be sent to registrants closer to the workshop date.
