VLA Annual Conference Update

Hi everyone,

I don’t know about you, but I cannot believe it’s already August. It seems like this summer has flown by! August means that the VLA Annual Conference is only 2 months away, so I have some updates to share:

  1. Early Bird Registration is now open. Register for the conference before August 15 and save some cash. Be sure to RSVP for Wednesday night’s Deli Crawl on your registration form.
  2. While you’re at it, enter the drawing for a $100 conference stipend that I’m sure you could use at the Deli Crawl. If you wanted to. Just a suggestion 🙂
  3. Need a roommate for the conference? Fill out our Roommate Finder form by September 1.

As summer winds down, we’re looking forward to several amazing events:

  • Region I is having a social on Saturday, 8/16 at 3pm at Attimo Winery in Christiansburg.
  • Save the date! VLA NMRT is partnering with VLACRL to offer a webinar on Wednesday, 9/24 at 2pm. The fabulous Lauren Pressley, Director of Learning Environments at Virginia Tech, will give an overview of effective presentation styles and tips and tricks for wowing your audience. Perfect for anyone who will be presenting at VLA in October or just wants to improve their presentation skills.
  • Officer elections will be held very soon. All leadership positions with the exception of Chair will be open. I know that our 2014-2015 Chair Margaret Howard has tons of ideas, so join her as part of next year’s team! Start thinking about how you might serve the forum and be on the lookout for a call for nominations in a few weeks.

See you all very soon in Williamsburg!
