It was an energy-filled meeting of VLA Council–the Virginia Library Association’s governing body–on Friday, as we were all excited about the conference coming up in just a few short weeks. I hope you’re excited, too! I’ll write another blog post with all the fun NMRT-related things in store for you at the conference next week, but in the meantime, here are a few opportunities for you to get some experience/meet people/get more out of the conference:
* Virginia Libraries is looking for reporters who will write summaries of the sessions they attend, to be published in a future issue of the magazine. Please contact editor Beth DeFrancis Sun at defrancb at georgetown dot edu if you’re interested.
* Volunteers are needed to help staff the raffle booth, the proceeds of which fund VLA’s library school scholarships. Please contact Scholarship Committee Chair Sasha Matthews at librarian4ya at gmail dot com if you’re interested.
Random House is generously setting up a webinar discussion for VLA members with Thomas Jefferson’s Creme Brulee author Thomas Craughwell; more details on that webinar coming soon.
Finally, a reminder to vote in both the NMRT and VLA elections, both of which close this Friday! Please contact me (mlhodge at gmail dot com) with any questions about the NMRT election and Lisa Varga (vla.lisav at cox dot net) with any questions about the VLA one.
Hope to see you all soon in Williamsburg!
