VLA NMRT Forum election – Program Director candidate

Candidate: Laura Nicole Warren

Running For: Program Director

Current Job Title: Libraries Thriving Coordinator and Solutions Associate, Credo Reference

Professional biography: Laura Warren holds an MLIS from San Jose State University’s Master of Library and Information Science program. She coordinates Libraries Thriving, a Credo Reference-sponsored though vendor-neutral online community for librarians and researchers, and has developed the community’s discussion forum, learning community, and free educational online seminar series focused on topics related to information literacy and e-resource innovation. Laura also has extensive experience with developing instructional materials for information literacy and online learning in her role as Instructional Design Coordinator for Literati by Credo. She takes every opportunity to network with librarians far and wide while sharing her enthusiasm for collaboration and learning about other librarians’ experience as well.

Statement for office: As the previous Programming Director’s understudy, I am familiar with what goes into successful VLA-organized social networking events. Through my Libraries Thriving Coordinator role, I have extensive experience organizing and facilitating professional development activities on an international level. In the role of VLA NMRT Programming Director, I will draw on my experience in both of these roles and my interest in meeting other Virginian librarians to organize fun, networking-filled social events.
