Introducing… the candidate for Student Representative!

This week on the blog, we are introducing our candidates for office for next week’s election. First up is Crystal Boyce, running for Student Representative.

Crystal Boyce, candidate for Student Representative
currently the User Services and Student Employee Supervisor at Swem Library, College of William & Mary, Williamsburg, VA

The VLA’s newly re-formed NMRT offers members the opportunities and resources to learn about the structure of the VLA and how to become more involved.  Active participation in the VLA is great opportunity to build your resume, learn more about libraries, and to network with colleagues.  As the Student Representative, I’ll work closely with other NMRT leaders to communicate with distance and residential library school students and to make sure that our needs are met by VLA programming and conference activities.

I’ve been a member of the VLA since November 2011, and am working on my MLIS from Florida State University through their distance education program.  I’ve been working in libraries since I was 16 and am looking forward to finding new ways to give back to this great profession.  I’ve been working in William & Mary’s Swem Library Circulation Department since April 2008 and have recently started in the Reference Department.  My experiences give me insight into paraprofessional and professional needs, and will help me serve you as Student Representative.
